A painting app that was already built for a laptop running Android.
Google's Googlebook laptops, announced in May 2026 and shipping this fall from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, run an Android-based operating system with Google Play. Hane has been on Google Play since the summer, and it was never a phone app stretched to fit a bigger screen. Keyboard shortcuts, mouse and trackpad profiles, pen pressure and tilt, and a landscape studio layout with collapsible tool rails were built in from the start for Chromebooks, DeX and pen displays.

What a laptop gets from Hane
- A complete, editable keyboard command map. Tools, undo and redo, layer operations, selection copy, cut, paste and clear, merge and flatten, canvas navigation. Reassigning a shortcut moves it instead of double-firing.
- A persisted mouse and trackpad profile. Each button can paint, pan, sample color, or do nothing. The wheel can zoom, resize the brush, or rotate the canvas. Space-drag pans.
- Pen pressure, tilt and a calibration step on any stylus the device reports, with a stored profile per device.
- Landscape and desktop layouts. Phone, tablet, DeX and keyboard-attached layouts are each deliberate, not scaled.
- Files you own. Layered PSD import and export and the editable Hane format in Full; no account, no cloud, no ads.
Brushes that behave like paint
Hane's engine, Tiltmark, simulates the brush as an object. Brushes carry a finite load of pigment, pick color back up off the canvas, get dirty, and run dry. Oil stays wet until you dry it. Watercolor spreads on a wet substrate. Graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, marker, gouache, acrylic and blenders are in the free tier, with the same physics as the paid tier.
