Hane Privacy Policy

Effective July 29, 2026. Hane is a local-first drawing and painting application. This policy covers the Android app, not separate browsing on the public Sloom website.

What Sloom does not collect

Hane has no Sloom user account, advertising, in-app analytics, behavioral profile, or Sloom-hosted project cloud. Sloom Software does not receive your artwork, document names, stylus samples, palettes, brush settings, local crash records, provider paths, or Sloom Link credentials through ordinary app use. Local renderer “telemetry” is displayed only on your device.

Artwork and files

Artwork, settings, recovery records, Gallery documents, and imported resources are stored on your device. Hane accesses files you explicitly open and writes files you explicitly save or export. Android may grant Hane continuing access to a backup folder only after you choose it through Android’s system document provider. Data sent to a provider you choose is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy; Sloom does not receive it.

Delete local data by deleting artwork and backups, clearing Hane’s app storage, or uninstalling Hane. Delete provider copies through that provider.

Purchases

Hane Full is a single one-time Google Play purchase. The transaction happens entirely inside Google Play, under your own Google account. Sloom does not operate a store, a receipt server, or an account system, and never sees your payment details.

Hane asks Google Play two questions: what the product costs in your country, and whether your Google account owns it. Hane does not log, store, or transmit your purchase token, order identifier, signature, or account identifier. The token supplied by Play is used once, inside the app, to acknowledge the purchase as Play requires, and is then discarded.

The only thing Hane keeps on your device is a small record that the unlock is active. It holds the tier, the product identifier, the time Play last confirmed it, and whether the purchase was acknowledged. It contains nothing that identifies you. That record is what lets Hane Full keep working offline; Hane performs no recurring licence check.

Refunds are handled by Google Play. A refund removes the extra Hane Full capabilities. It never changes, resizes, flattens, or deletes your artwork.

Sharing to other applications

When you share artwork, Hane writes one temporary copy into its own private cache and hands the chosen application a temporary, read-only content:// link to that copy through Android’s FileProvider. Only the application you pick receives access, and it receives no filesystem path.

That temporary folder is cleared before each new share, and anything left in it is removed within an hour. Hane exposes no other folder to other applications: your artwork, recovery data, and documents stay private.

Hane contains no Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, or other social-network component. It has no social account, feed, follower graph, contact access, or posting automation, and it does not record which application you shared to.

Sloom Link and local-network transfer

Sloom Link is off by default. If you enable it, Hane starts a local network service so a paired Sloom Studio device can receive the artwork and updates you choose to share. Use it only on a trusted private network. Pairing secrets, session tokens, and artwork are not relayed through or stored on Sloom servers. Stop Sloom Link to end the service and revoke the active session.

Google Code Scanner

Hane uses the Google Code Scanner, delivered by Google Play services, only when you choose to scan a Sloom Link QR invitation. Camera frames and scan results are processed on the device and are not sent to Sloom. Google states that ML Kit does not send the input image or scan result to its servers.

Google’s ML Kit disclosure states that the scanner SDK may transmit encrypted diagnostic and usage information to Google, including device and app information, device or installation identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, feature events, and error codes. Hane enables auto-zoom, for which Google also documents a temporary scan-session identifier, zoom changes, and predicted barcode bounding-box coordinates. Google states this diagnostic data is encrypted in transit and not shared with third parties. Google’s handling is governed by Google’s applicable terms and privacy policy.

Notifications and foreground operation

If you enable Sloom Link, Hane may display an ongoing Android notification and keep the local connection and Wi-Fi radio available while the link is active. The notification does not transmit artwork or personal information to Sloom.

Children

Hane is a professional creative tool and is not directed to children under 13. It has no social feed or in-app communication between users.

Security and retention

Hane uses Android application storage, system document grants, bounded FileProvider shares, and authenticated local pairing. Local recovery data remains until it expires under Hane’s bounded recovery settings or you delete app data. Sloom retains no ordinary Hane project data because it does not receive that data.

Changes

This policy will be updated if Hane’s data practices or included SDKs materially change. The effective date identifies the current version.
