Hane by Sloom · Chromebook

A free painting app for Chromebook.

Hane is listed on Google Play for Chromebooks that run Android apps. If your Chromebook shows the Play Store, you can install Hane Starter free and paint with a supported stylus, a mouse, or the trackpad, with a real keyboard for shortcuts. There is no account to create, no ads, and nothing marked onto your artwork.

Made for a keyboard and a pen

Brushes that behave like paint

Hane's engine, Tiltmark, simulates the brush as an object. Brushes carry a finite load of pigment, pick color back up off the canvas, get dirty, and run dry. Oil stays wet until you dry it. Watercolor spreads on a wet substrate. Graphite, colored pencil, charcoal, pastel, ink, marker, gouache, acrylic and blenders are in the free tier, with the same physics as the paid tier.

For classrooms and school-managed devices

Hane has no login, no chat, no feed, no ads and no cloud; artwork stays on the device unless the artist exports it. The privacy policy is short and public. Teachers running the First Hundred prompts as exercises can write to support@sloom.studio for a batch of Full codes for a class.

Free, then one payment

Hane Starter is free: 36 calibrated brushes, three paint layers, canvases up to 2048 px, six saved artworks. Hane Full is a single one-time purchase through Google Play (USD 9.99 in the US; your local price is shown in Play): the complete 252-brush library, the brush editor, folders, masks, clipping, canvases up to 8192 px, unlimited artworks, full-resolution PNG, JPEG, WebP and PSD. No subscription.
