Sloom Studio
Support the project

Free software still has to be paid for.

Sloom Studio is written by one person, Jarrod Cary, and given away under the GPL. Three things keep it moving, in this order of usefulness.

1. Buy Hane

Hane is our Android painting app. It is free to try, and the one-time Full unlock is USD 9.99. Every purchase funds Sloom Studio directly, and you get a painting app with physical brushes for it.

Hane on Google Play

2. Donate

A one-off or monthly contribution, any amount. Donations are voluntary and not a purchase; nothing is unlocked and nothing changes in the software.

Donate via Buy Me a Coffee

A card checkout on our own domain is being set up; this page will switch to it.

3. Contribute

Code, packaging, translation, documentation or a good bug report. The contribute page lists where a first patch lands well.

Coming: the Tiltmark plugin

Tiltmark is the physical-media brush engine inside Hane: brushes that carry a finite load of paint, pick colour up off the canvas, get dirty and run dry. It is proprietary and it is what funds this project. A Tiltmark plugin for Sloom Studio's Image workspace is planned as a paid, closed-source add-on. Sloom Studio itself stays GPL and does not depend on it; the plugin will attach at the engine seam documented on the developer page. There is no date yet. If you want to know when it ships, follow the project on Bluesky or watch the repository.

Where the money goes

Development time, the Google Play developer account, the server this site runs on, and hardware to test on. There are no employees and no investors. Accounts are the developer's own.
